Winner & Cool Book Campaign & Graphic Hamlet

Thank you for entering my Courtney Summers giveaway
There were 111 entries (!) and the winning number was #10
Wahoo!

And now for some completely unrelated things:

Penguin Malaysia recently ran a campaign advertising some of their "unputdownable" classics - in which they painted book covers onto peoples hands. I love this idea, so absolutely cool - The Railway Children is my fave (for the artwork on the boys hand - just amazing).

I also love the back cover details - imagine painting on the text! - so tiny and detailed and exact.

If I could have a book painted on my hands... Hmm... I have no idea which one I'd pick.

Maybe Nicki Greenberg's Graphic Hamlet?
For general coolness and adolescent angst.
Plus, the illustrations take my breath away.
I just love the energy and interpretation of it.
Brilliant.

(And now I will drown you with images b/c i can't choose just one. Click on images for enlarged details)

Love this one below: Hamlet getting all dramatic in the "to be or not to be soliloquy"

If you could have a book painted on your hand, which book would it be?

...and this is a completely different concept to getting Edward tattooed on your body ;)

I think I'd have the Ink Exchange cover painted on my hand. The Wicked series covers are so freaking gorgeous.

  6. Congrats Lauren. :) I guess it's pre-order for me, then.

That campaign is so creative! What book would I choose? BAD GIRLS DON'T DIE by Katie Alender. Creepy covers pwn all. :P

They have a graphic novel for The Great Gatsby, too. I saw it in my library. It's quite cute. It's the same author/illustrator, I think. The name rings a bell.

  7. Very cool concept. If I had to choose a classic it would have to be Jane Eyre, otherwise I would probably choose Boy's Life by Robert McCammon, one of my all time favs!

  8. I don't know what I would have painted on my hand... Perhaps the original all white cover of Sabriel, it was very pretty.

But those Twilight tattoos!!! So, so, so disturbing. They do realise that they'll never come of?? Ick.

  12. Holy cow, those Malaysian pics are awesome!

Hmmm, I would have a really hard time deciding what book I'd want painted on my own hands. Maybe The Great Gatsby or To Kill a Mockingbird? Both have some great covers.
